Killin Sports & Recreation Hub has officially opened Stirling’s first pump track at Breadalbane Park, marking a major milestone for the local community.

The 100-metre cycling track, built by Architrail Velosolutions UK Ltd, features banked turns, dips, and slopes designed for riders of all ages and abilities. This new facility transforms an underused area of the park into an exciting space for sport and recreation.

A Community Vision Realised

Since forming in 2022, Killin Sports & Recreation Hub has worked to create opportunities that bring people together and improve access to sport and physical activity. The pump track has been one of their flagship ambitions – a project designed not only for cycling enthusiasts but for the whole community and visitors to the area.

As a free-to-use facility for all ages and abilities, the track opens up new possibilities for physical activity in Stirling. More than just a cycling track, it represents a shared commitment to health, wellbeing, and rural regeneration, ensuring everyone has the chance to enjoy sport close to home.

Killin Sports & Recreation Hub have done an incredible job to deliver this project. It’s been a pleasure to support them through our Active Communities team. This pump track will give people of all ages the chance to experience the fun and thrill of cycling for years to come.

Partnership and Support

The £140,000 project was funded through the sportscotland Cycling Facilities Fund who provided significant funding as a legacy project of the 2023 UCI World Championships, UKSPF Community Spaces Improvement Grant (administered by Stirling Council), and the Community Led Local Development programme (facilitated by Forth Valley & Lomond Leader), alongside local contributions from Killin and Ardeonaig Community Development Trust, Killin Highland Games and the Killin Sports and Recreation Hub.

This pump track is the result of many years of determination and teamwork from our community. We are proud to see Breadalbane Park transformed into a space where people of all ages can come together, be active, and share in the joy of cycling. It’s a facility built not just for today, but for generations to enjoy, and we’re grateful to everyone who helped make this vision a reality.

The Cycling Facilities Fund has had a transformational impact of Scotland’s cycling infrastructure. It’s been hugely encouraging to see the number of people and clubs already using these facilities, access to the sport has been improved greatly for so many communities.

This would not have been achieved without investment and lots of hard work from our local partners, like everyone involved in the new pump track in Killin. They have demonstrated a real commitment to ensuring that more people will have the chance to take advantage of all the benefits cycling can bring.

Forbes Dunlop, sportscotland Chief Executive

The £8million Cycling Facilities Fund has had a transformational impact on cycling facilities in Scotland. It has built on the growing interest in cycling by developing a network of facilities across the country. It has been made possible through a £4million commitment from Scottish Government and £4million from sportscotland through National Lottery funds. The funding stream is administered by sportscotland and Scottish Cycling.

As part of sportscotland’s Community Sport Hub network, Killin Sports & Recreation Hub works in partnership with Active Stirling to create opportunities for participation and community development.
