Empowering Future Leaders Through Sport and Activity
From Junior Leadership in primary schools to leading Sports Councils in secondary schools, Active Schools offers a dynamic pathway that inspires pupils to lead, grow, and make a lasting impact in their school communities.
We aim to build sustainable pathways into coaching, officiating, volunteering and community sport.
WHY LEADERSHIP MATTERS
Active Schools Leadership Pathway helps children and young people build essential life skills while contributing positively to their school and local community. Through leadership roles, pupils develop:
- Confidence and self-belief
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A sense of responsibility and pride in their achievements
Whether supporting sessions or shaping the future of sport in their school, these opportunities empower pupils to lead with purpose, promote inclusivity, and create fun, active environments for everyone.
LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Our pathway supports pupils from primary through to secondary school, offering a range of programmes tailored to different interests and stages:

- Sports Leaders: Building confidence by leading games, events, and activities in curriculum time and volunteering opportunities.
- Delivery Academy: Practical experience in planning and delivering physical activity sessions.
- Fit for Girls: Engaging and empowering girls through leadership in sport.
- Sports Councils: Giving pupils a voice to shape physical activity in their schools.
