Pupils from across Stirling took centre stage at the Active Schools ELEVATE Dance Showcase, held at Stirling High School on Wednesday 1 April.

The high‑energy event brought together young people from nine primary schools and two high schools for a morning celebrating dance, leadership and confidence.

Running from 10am to 1.30pm, the showcase is designed to support the transition from primary to secondary school, while giving secondary pupils the opportunity to develop their skills as leaders, role models and activity deliverers.

Inspiring leadership through dance

This year’s workshop was led by Dance Leaders Brooke and Abbey, supported by Stirling High School S3 dancers, who created an inclusive and upbeat environment for all participants. The session encouraged collaboration between primary and secondary pupils and culminated in a vibrant final group performance, showcasing what everyone had learned together.

Throughout the morning, schools performed their own choreographed routines, highlighting the creativity, effort and commitment pupils had put into preparing for the event. The atmosphere in the games hall was full of energy and encouragement, with pupils cheering each other on and celebrating every performance.

Celebrating confidence and creativity

Pupils taking part also spoke about what they enjoyed most, from performing on a big stage to meeting new people and taking part in the workshop sessions.

Here are some highlights and performances from the day.

The ELEVATE Showcase is all about giving primary and secondary pupils positive opportunities to lead, try something new, be creative and have an opportunity to perform. It’s fantastic to see secondary pupils step into leadership roles to deliver a brilliant workshop and support younger pupils as they move towards high school. Today’s event really highlights how dance helps bring people together.

Supporting young people to be active

The ELEVATE Showcase forms part of Active Stirling’s ongoing work to support young people to be active, engaged and connected through sport, dance and physical activity. By creating meaningful leadership roles within secondary schools, the programme helps pupils grow in confidence while inspiring the next generation of young leaders.

Active Stirling would like to acknowledge the fantastic efforts of all pupils involved and thank the teachers, school staff and leaders who supported the event throughout.
