Mini Stuc Hill Race Brings Together Over 150 Primary Pupils in Strathyre

Over 150 primary school pupils from across Stirling recently took on a unique outdoor challenge at the Mini Stuc Primary School Hill Race in the village of Strathyre.

Delivered by Active Stirling in partnership with the Stuc a’ Chroin Hill Race Committee, the event welcomed pupils from more than 15 schools, with children from P4 to P7 competing in a fun but demanding hill race environment.

The Mini Stuc is Active Stirling’s only hill race and the only full Stirling schools event hosted within the McLaren Learning Community, making it a standout fixture in the Active Schools calendar. Pupils competed for individual prizes and a team title, while also developing confidence, resilience and teamwork through outdoor physical activity.

Taking place in the scenic rural surroundings of Strathyre, the race gave young people the opportunity to experience hill running in a safe, supportive and inclusive setting, while representing their schools and communities.

I would like to thank the Stuc a’ Chroin committee and all the schools for attending this great event. As Active School Co-ordinator for McLaren, I feel very proud to host such a big event in the McLaren Learning Community.

Michael McPake, Active Schools Coordinator

The Mini Stuc Primary School Hill Race continues to go from strength to strength each year, with growing participation from schools across Stirling. The event reflects Active Stirling’s wider commitment to creating high-quality, inclusive opportunities that encourage children and young people to be active, confident and engaged through sport and physical activity.
