Try Curling -

Our Try Curling class is a one hour fun, social and hands-on introduction to the ancient sport of curling. In this class you will learn the basics of sweeping and delivering the stones safely.

Beginners Curling

This 3 week block of curling lessons is ideal for those who have completed a Try Curling class or have done a little bit of Curling and need a refresher. This course will cover sweeping, delivery , tactics and rules.

Get into Curling

This is a 4 week block of classes introducing you to the sport of Curling. The first session is a one hour Come and Try followed by three two hour sessions where you learn more about the skills and rules of the sport. Sessions for Over 50's or Ladies only.

Gateway Club

Our Gateway Club is for Curlers who are looking to play regularly. These coach led sessions will helo you improve your delivery and sweeping techniques. Sessions will also cover strategy and tactics.

Quick Curling

A new format of curling which is ideal for experienced curlers to compete in a game that lasts one hour. Teams of 3 rotate positions during the game so curlers get experience in a fast moving competitve environment.

  • Delivering the stone: the technique of sliding the polished granite stones down the ice towards the target (house).

  • Practice: You’ll have a chance to practice both delivering the stones and sweeping the ice.

Quick Curling is a new format of curling to try. Games last only one hour.
• Teams of 3 players.
• Games are 55 minutes with clock starting on allocated game time.
• A maximum of two points will be available per end except at the final end.
• Once the time clock runs out the game stops completely and stones in a scoring position will count.
• Each player will deliver 2 stones per end.
• No Stones can be removed from play until the middle players first stone.
• Only 1 team member can sweep at any one time.
• Players will rotate positions after every end. Lead, Middle and Skip (Skip moves to lead and other positions move up.)

  • Warm, loose fitting clothing
  • Tracksuit bottoms/joggers/leggings
  • Warm jumpers (hoodie)
  • Gloves (If you think you’ll be cold)
  • On the feet – clean, flat, rubber soled shoes (trainers are ideal) to change into for curling

All equipment is supplied by The PEAK including:

  • Brushes
  • Delivery aids
  • Sliders
  • Ice can be very slippery – always wear two flat rubber soled shoes on ice
  • Make sure your footwear is totally clean – tiny pieces of dirt can spoil the ice surface
  • If a stone goes astray shout ICE to allow others to look out
  • Use your brush to stop and move the stones – not your feet
  • DO NOT try and lift the 22KG stones
  • Always keep your feet on the ice
  • Walk or slide NEVER hop or run
  • If you have an injury on the ice please report to our Ice Technician on site, Coach or at The PEAK reception

Classes can be viewed and booked using our online booking portal, the Homeportal.
