Trustees Responsibilities/Office Scottish Charity Regulator Guidance (OSCR)

In the broadest sense, a charity trustee must act in the interests of the charity and comply with the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005. This includes operating in a manner consistent with the purposes of the charity, acting with care and diligence and importantly, managing any conflicts of interest between the charity and anyone who appoints the trustee.

Some additional specific roles of a trustee are:
  • Updated charity records
  • Complying with OSCR reporting requirements
  • Ensuring suitable financial record keeping and reporting
  • Control of fundraising
  • Providing public information.
