Active Stirling, the charitable trust delivering sport, physical activity and wellbeing services on behalf of Stirling Council, has significantly increased participation across the region over the past twelve months.
Between April 2024 and March 2025, individual participation in Active Stirling programmes grew by over 3,000 people — meaning that 22% of the entire Stirlingshire population is now taking part.
UK State of the leisure industry reports compiled in 2024 highlighted that an average health and fitness facility operator reach per population area is 15.9%.

Active Stirling activities span a wide range of venues and settings, including Stirling Sports Village, all 47 Stirling schools, community centres, rural areas, locality action plan settings, and outdoor locations throughout this diverse local authority area.

Advancing public participation in sport, physical activity and wellbeing across Stirlingshire is our principal charitable purpose, so it’s exceptionally gratifying to see more Stirling residents getting and staying active through our programmes — all made possible by our fantastic team members and volunteers.
This growth is spread across the region, with, for example, 9% of our users residing in the Trossachs and Teith ward.
Our vision at Active Stirling is to make Stirling a place where there are no barriers to participation in physical activity and sport. We will continue to build on this progress to ensure opportunities are inclusive, accessible and meet the needs of all our local communities.
