The PEAK at Stirling Sports Village won Facility of the Year 2022 at the inaugural Scottish Leisure Network Group awards which took place at the Inchyra Grange Hotel in Grangemouth on Thursday 17 November.

After being shortlisted as one of five operators, The PEAK was recognised and awarded as ‘The Facility of the Year 2022’. The award recognises facilities and their teams who have gone above and beyond and made a notable impact in the community over the past twelve months.

During COVID-19 pandemic, sport and leisure facilities across the UK were frequently disrupted throughout lockdown with closures and restrictions to operations and since opening back up again have been focused on business recovery. The awarding panel recognised the immense performance The PEAK has achieved in keeping operations running, under difficult circumstances over the past year whilst simultaneously innovating new studios, products, and programmes. The PEAK as a facility was also recognised as a community hub and the impact the facility has on getting the community more active, more often, through integrated activities and programmes delivered by Active Stirling’s teams: Sport, Physical Activity and Inclusion, Active Schools, Community Activation, and Employability and Health Referral across Stirling.

Active Stirling have installed various new features to inspire customers over the last year including a new all-inclusive high value £25 single membership at The PEAK, which includes unlimited access to over 130 weekly fitness classes, including Les Mills classes, gym, swim, skate, climb and play. Two new health & fitness studios at The PEAK and Forthbank and a wide range of Les Mills virtual fitness classes and other innovative programming such as family fun ice discos.

We are delighted that The PEAK has been recognised for Facility of the Year 2022 at the Scottish Leisure Managers Network awards. The facility, community and support teams across Active Stirling have worked tirelessly over the past year under exceedingly difficult circumstances through and out of the pandemic to achieve uninterrupted provision whilst also creating transformational opportunities to improve people's live through using sport and physical activity as a progressive lever for positive change. This award is an endorsement of their dedication and professionalism in delivering for the Stirling community on behalf of Stirling Council.

Matt Bunnell, Active Stirling’s Director of Operations added:

The PEAK also functions as a unique community asset with programmes and activities centred towards breaking down barriers to sport and physical activity participation and the award recognised the important work delivered by Active Stirling's School and Community teams such as Women and Girls in Sport events, Recovery Community Olympics, Health Referral programmes and inclusive activity such as Bikes Without Barriers which is an adapted cycling programme providing free opportunities for adults in the community living with a disability to participate in cycling.

On behalf of everyone at Active Stirling and The PEAK, we would like to say a big thank you for voting for us!
