Active Stirling, in partnership with Stirling Council, is delighted to announce completion of the major redevelopment project at The PEAK leisure centre, with a significantly expanded gym and two brand-new group fitness studios opening to the public on Monday 27 April 2026.

The redevelopment represents a major milestone for health and wellbeing provision across Stirlingshire. The project has doubled the size of The PEAK’s gym and introduced two additional purpose-built group fitness studios, allowing Active Stirling to expand its programme of classes and fitness opportunities for people of all ages and abilities.

Ahead of the full reopening, The PEAK’s sports hall returned to public use on Monday 20 April, marking the first stage of the centre’s enhanced facilities becoming available to the community.

Operated by Active Stirling, The PEAK has been a cornerstone of sport, physical activity, and community wellbeing in the region since opening in 2009. With facilities including swimming, teaching & confidence pools, health suite, two ice rinks, a climbing wall, multi-purpose sports hall, outdoor pitches, gym and group fitness studios, the centre already serves thousands of visitors every week. The redevelopment further strengthens its position as one of Scotland’s leading centres for sport, health and physical activity.

The expanded gym will provide significantly increased demand-led capacity and access to modern innovative equipment, while the two new studios will enable a broader and more flexible diverse programme of group fitness classes. Together, these improvements will support even more people across Stirlingshire to take part in physical activity, improve their wellbeing, and connect with their community.

Matt Bunnell, Chief Executive Officer of Active Stirling, said:
“The completion of the redevelopment project at The PEAK is a hugely exciting moment for Active Stirling and for communities across Stirlingshire. These fantastic new facilities will allow us to welcome even more people through our doors and provide greater connecting opportunities for everyone to be active.”

“Doubling the size of our gym and adding two additional studios will transform the experience for our members and customers. It means more space, more classes, and more opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to prioritise their health and wellbeing. Crucially this development will facilitate the protection and over time expansion of our myriad life changing sport physical activity and inclusion work delivered throughout Stirlingshire to fulfil our vision at Active Stirling of no barriers existing to participation in sport and physical activity locally.

“We are incredibly proud to deliver this project in partnership with Stirling Council. The PEAK is already a vibrant social hub for sport, fitness and community life, and this investment further strengthens its position as a sector-leading centre that supports people to live active, happy, and healthy lives. I would like to finish by extending a sincere thank you to our valued customers for their patience and understanding whilst the works have been carried out on site over the last several months.”

The redevelopment project forms part of a shared commitment by Active Stirling and Stirling Council to continue investing in high-quality facilities that improve health and wellbeing outcomes for local people of all ages and abilities.

With the expanded gym and additional studios opening on 27 April, The PEAK will offer an even wider range of activities and programmes designed to support the physical and mental wellbeing of communities across Stirling for many years to come.

The new facilities will also support the delivery of Stirling’s new strategy for Sport, Physical Activity and Health which is currently out for consultation.
