The Albert Halls in Stirling was filled with energy and creativity on Wednesday 19 November as Active Stirling hosted its annual Stirling Secondary Dance Competition.
The event brought together over 120 talented dancers from Stirling’s secondary schools – Stirling High, McLaren High, Bannockburn High, Dunblane High, Wallace High, and St Modan’s High – for an unforgettable celebration of movement and performance.
The competition featured a variety of routines, including junior and senior solos, duets, and trios, followed by dynamic team performances. Each dancer showcased their unique skills and styles, impressing the audience with their passion and dedication.
Adding to the excitement, participants took part in two inspiring workshops led by professional dancers Meara O’Donnell from Dance Connection who introduced the pupils with contemporary dancing, and Shannon Robertson from SR Dance brought the energy with commercial dancing.
Delivered by the Active Schools team as part of the extra-curricular pathway, the competition provides pupils with the opportunity to shine, build confidence, and connect through the power of dance.
This event is all about giving young people the chance to shine. The talent and dedication we saw was incredible – every dancer brought their own unique style and energy to the stage. It’s inspiring to watch them grow in confidence and share their passion for dance with the community.
