Pupils get competitive at Stirling Secondary Schools Badminton Competition and Development Football events

There was a return to school sport at The PEAK and Forthbank Stadium in Stirling on Wednesday 16 November 2022. Active Stirling’s Active Schools Team welcomed pupils from Stirling’s Secondary Schools to attend both a Schools Badminton Competition and Development Football event.

With over 70 pupils in attendance from Wallace, Balfron, Bannockburn, Dunblane, and St Modan’s High Schools, the events marked the return of competitive School Badminton and Development Football programmes since the pandemic.

Pupils at the Badminton Competition were competing in the following categories: Under 16 singles and doubles, and under 16s mixed doubles. Under 19s singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. The winners were presented with medals and the top three in each category will progress to the Central Schools Badminton Championship at The PEAK in December.

The Football matches were for S1 teams, with matches held as friendlies on the newly resurfaced 11-a-side synthetic pitch at Forthbank Stadium.

It was great to have so many kids for today's football event. There was some excellent football on show while giving different young people a chance to represent their school.

It was fantastic to see the standard of the young players. It was great to see everyone competing and enjoying themselves throughout the day.
