Would you like to start your career in the Leisure industry?

Build your career in Leisure, Health, and Fitness here at Active Stirling. We are introducing a 5-day course to complete your Pool Lifeguard qualification (Safety Training Award (STA) Level 2).

This course is a well-recognised lifeguard qualification across the UK. On successful completion, you will be fully qualified to work as a Pool Lifeguard.

To qualify you must be able to:

  • To jump into deep water
  • Swim 50 metres in under 1 minute
  • Swim 100 metres on the front and 100 metres on the back without stopping
  • Tread water for 30 seconds in deep water
  • Surface dive and recover an object from the deepest part of the pool
  • Climb out of the pool unaided without the use of steps or ladders.
  • Be 16 years (or over) on the day of assessment

Skills will range from:

  • Understanding the role of a Pool Lifeguard
  • Health and Safety requirements for a Swimming pool environment
  • First Aid and Basic Life Support Skills
  • Pool Rescue Skills
  • Become a confident leader, and take charge of situations, making quick and decisive decisions

Once you have successfully completed your Lifeguard course, you can progress to become a Lifesaving Tutor, or take further qualifications such as Pool Plant Operations or a Certificate in Swimming Teaching.
