Laura Taylor completes 22.5-mile Kiltwalk and raises funds for Alzheimer Scotland.

On Sunday 27 April, Active Stirling’s Physical Activity and Inclusion Officer, Laura Taylor, completed an incredible 22.5-mile journey from Glasgow Green to Balloch as part of the 2025 Kiltwalk in Glasgow.

Laura led the challenge alongside fellow walker Kerry-Ann Wakely, a member of Active Stirling’s walking group, raising over £700 in support of Alzheimer Scotland—Scotland’s national dementia charity.

In preparation for the event, Laura created a 12-week walking plan, encouraging participants to join her at The PEAK. Each week, walkers trained together, gradually increasing distances to build strength and endurance.

It was Kerry-Ann first time doing the Kiltwalk and they both completed the challenge in 6 hours and 57 minutes.

The training walks really helped improve my pace and stamina for my second Kiltwalk. When we hit the 15-mile mark, we just told ourselves it was like one of our training walks. The pain and blisters were worth it for the money raised – just over £700 for Alzheimer Scotland.

The Wednesday walking group helped me prepare mentally, socially and physically for this challenge. I’m incredibly grateful for the experience and support.

Kerry-Ann Wakely

We’re incredibly proud of Laura, Kerry-Ann and all our walking group members who supported this inspiring effort.
