Have your say: Forth Valley launches major study into physical activity and mental wellbeing

Active Stirling is proud to be working in partnership with Stirling Council, the University of Stirling, NHS Forth Valley and Clackmannanshire Council on an important new research project exploring how physical activity, community connection and local opportunities can support mental wellbeing and social health across Forth Valley.

Together, we are launching a sector-wide Physical Activity, Sport and Wellbeing Survey, designed to gather real-life experiences from people living in our communities. The findings from this study will help us understand how being active—and feeling connected—can positively influence mental wellbeing, social health and overall quality of life.

As partners, we are committed to shaping services, programmes and investment that meet the needs of the people we serve. To do this well, we need to hear directly from you.

Why your voice matters

Your experiences—whether positive or challenging—play an essential role in strengthening the evidence behind what works. By taking part, you will help inform:

  • future physical activity and wellbeing programmes
  • targeted community support
  • improved access to opportunities
  • strategic decision‑making and funding priorities across the region

The more people who take part, the clearer and more representative the picture becomes for the future of health and wellbeing in Forth Valley.

A message from Active Stirling

We know that staying active and feeling connected to your community can make a huge difference to your mental wellbeing — but we want to understand what this really looks like for people across Forth Valley. This survey gives our communities a powerful voice in shaping the programmes, services and support we develop next. Every response helps us build a clearer picture of what people need, what barriers exist, and how we can work together to create healthier, more connected and more active communities.

How to take part

The survey is open to anyone living in Forth Valley and takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. You don’t need to be physically active to take part — we want to hear from everyone.
