Active Stirling is delighted to share that Dunblane Learning Community has received a generous donation of £680 from the Dunblane Road Race, helping to sustain extra-curricular running clubs at Dunblane Primary School and Newton Primary School.
The funding, raised through the annual Dunblane Road Race, has been used to cover PVG checks for parent volunteers, ensuring the clubs can continue to run safely and sustainably. It has also provided a kit fund for pupils in need, making sure every child can access the sport regardless of financial circumstances.
Thanks to this support, 16 dedicated parent volunteers have delivered weekly running clubs across the two schools, giving more than 50 pupils from P5–P7 the chance to enjoy regular running activities.
The Dunblane Road Race is a low-cost, locally run event with all proceeds going to local charities. This year we had a record number of runners—81 for the Youth Race and 350 for the Road Race. Encouraging runners of all abilities is our passion, and we were delighted to donate to support running clubs in the local Dunblane schools.
I like it when we get to do big hill trials. It's helped me get better at long-distance running, especially with my breathing strategies. The parent volunteers are fantastic.
Active Stirling’s Active Schools programme plays a vital role in ensuring pupils have access to sport and physical activity through extra-curricular opportunities. This funding has made a real difference, helping us keep the clubs sustainable and inclusive for all pupils.
