Try Nordic Walking for Free This August
Looking for a new way to get active, improve your fitness and enjoy the outdoors?
This August, we're offering a series of free Nordic Walking taster sessions alongside new training courses designed to help beginners discover the many physical and wellbeing benefits of this popular full-body activity.
Nordic Walking uses specially designed poles to enhance natural walking. Suitable for a wide range of abilities, it can help improve fitness, posture, strength, balance and confidence, while providing an enjoyable way to be active outdoors.
To help people get started, we’re offering a number of free 30-minute taster sessions at Forthbank and King's Park. These sessions are open to adults aged 18 and over, with no experience required and pole hire included.
For those who would like to develop their skills further, a new three-week Nordic Walking Training Course will also be available. Delivered by our qualified instructors, the course follows the internationally recognised INWA 10-Step Teaching Method in partnership with British Nordic Walking and provides participants with the skills and confidence to join regular Nordic Walking sessions. These 3-week blocks will cost £25 and includes pole hire.
Nordic Walking is a fantastic way to get active, meet new people and enjoy spending time outdoors. We're excited to launch our new taster sessions and training courses and help more people discover an activity that can benefit both physical and mental wellbeing. Whether you're looking to improve your fitness, build confidence in being active or simply try something new, our free taster sessions are the perfect place to start.
The new programme has been made possible through external grant funding for instructor training and investment in specialist Nordic Walking poles, helping us expand opportunities for people to take part in walking activities across the Stirling area.
