Special uplifts can be requested for bulky items that are too big to be put out with normal rubbish, e.g., sofas and chairs, washing machines and green garden waste.
Follow this link for information on charges for this service There are exemptions to this charge in certain circumstances.
Please call 0845 277 7000 to see if your request qualifies.
Please note: if required, payment must be made in full before a special uplift can be made.
Items should be left in a prominent position for collection, you will be informed of the collection day.
If the uplift has not been made on the allocated collection day, please wait another 24 hours. There may be reasons, such as vehicle breakdown, high demand on the service etc, which has caused the collection to run late.
You can take old, unwanted items of furniture to the municipal dump, you can arrange for a special uplift, or you can donate it to charity.
Refrigerators and freezers are a separate waste category due to new European legislation. They are uplifted from households at no charge with all areas being serviced on a regular, rotating schedule. There is a charge of £152 (including VAT) for commercial premises who require a fridge or freezer to be uplifted (email us or call 0845 277 7000 to arrange an uplift).
There are some items that cannot be uplifted because they are too big or heavy, or because they could pose a health and safety risk either during transportation or disposal. Some items need to be disposed of as 'special waste' and would need to be collected by a specialist contractor e.g. asbestos.
We will not remove any item that is not on our order, so please do not place anything out for collection that was not part of your original order.
Unfortunately we are not able to carry out an uplift from inside the house.
Items should be left outside your house but within your property, e.g. back door, front door, driveway, beside shed/garage.
There are designated days for special uplifts depending on the area you live in.
