Walking netball is on its way to Balfron

Active Stirling is set to bring walking netball to the Balfron community this Spring.
In partnership with Netball Scotland, Active Stirling has been working to grow the walking netball programme across the Stirling council area. After a successful launch of walking netball session at The PEAK in January 2018, it was clear there is a huge demand for walking sports.
Walking netball is a slower version of the regular game, played at a walking pace, with adapted rules and court size. The sessions provide a level of activity tailored to meet everyone's needs in a safe, comfortable and fun environment.
Walking netball participant at The PEAK, Angela Samson, said: "An hour at home just goes by. Whereas this is just great for fitness, but it's the social side of it as well, it's just great".
Ruth Henderson, Active Stirling Club Development Officer said “After bringing walking netball to Stirling for the very first time in January, we were overwhelmed with the positive response and the number of people interested. We felt that it was a great opportunity to expand the sport into specific communities, and Balfron is a perfect place to start. Walking netball is a great opportunity for all ages and abilities to keep fit in an inclusive environment, and to meet lots of people and have great fun.
Walking netball in Balfron starts Friday 20th April, 7.00pm – 8.00pm at Balfron High School. The first two sessions on Friday 20th & 27th April are free of charge. Thereafter sessions can be booked as a block of 8 weeks for £16 from Friday 4th May - Friday 22nd June. To book please call Active Stirling's booking's team on 01786 273555.
