Stirling Schools Young Ambassador Conference

On Monday 5 October the Active Schools team from Active Stirling conducted their first ever Virtual Young Ambassadors Conference for all of Stirling Councils Secondary Schools.
Sportscotland would usually host a national event at Perth Concert Hall, but when the decision was made to cancel the event this year due to Covid-19 restrictions, the Active Schools team in Stirling wanted to bring the conference to the pupils in their Schools.
The virtual event was hosted by Paul Rodger who is the Active Schools Coordinator for the Bannockburn and Stirling learning communities.
He was joined by representatives of SportScotland, as well as Nicola McDonald from the Young Peoples Sports Panel and former Basketballer and Team GB Olympian, Kieron Achara.
They all gave short talks to the young people of Stirling about how sport can be used as a positive tool in life and how sport has benefited them in their lives.
Paul Rodger, Active Stirling, Active Schools Coordinator said’
“The Conference was a great success! All the kids loved to hear what our guest speakers had to say, especially Kieron Achara who had some incredible stories to tell us. The kids seemed inspired and ready to take on their new roles as Young Ambassadors for their schools.”
