Stirling Schools Golf League

The first fixture in Active Stirling’s Secondary Schools Golf League took place on Wednesday 3 October at Callander Golf Club.

Five local secondary schools took part, entering six teams with four players in each. The team were then split into pairs and each pair played a fourball match play format against a pair from another school.
Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t in favour of players, with rain showers for a lot of the day. Despite this, the golfers played some exceptional golf, with one pupil from Balfron High School playing with a handicap of zero. Winning schools were awarded two points, and a single point was awarded for a draw.
Paul O’Shea, Active Stirling’s Active Schools Coordinator said “It was a really enjoyable day at Callander Golf Club, and it was great to see so many pupils taking part in the first league meeting of the Stirling Schools Golf League. It's always encouraging to see good participation in a sport that isn't seen as a traditional or regular school sport. Well done to everyone who took part! And thanks to Callander Golf Club for their support on the day.”
There are two more league meetings scheduled, the next will take place at Balfron Golf Club on Wednesday 7 November.
