Starlight Success at British Synchronized Skating Championships 2019

 
On Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 January 2019, Starlight Synchro Skating Club took part in the British Synchronized Skating Championships 2019 at the National Ice Centre, in Nottingham.
 
The Club who predominantly train at The PEAK in Stirling entered two of their teams to the competition, Starlight Rain and Starlight Storm. Starlight Rain retained their British Adult Champion title for the second year in the row with a score of 23.65 earning them 1st position. This is the third year Rain have achieved this title. Starlight Storm, competed in the mixed age category scoring a huge personal best of 33.53 and achieving 6th place overall.
  
The BBC provided a live stream of the British Synchronized Skating Championships, which can be viewed on the BBC IPlayer.
   
Robyn McDade, Starlight Storm's coach said: "I am incredibly proud of the team; they have worked hard all season and performed beautifully at the championships. Getting such a high score is a huge boost and now we know what to work on for the next competition." Robyn who also coaches and skates in Starlight Rain said "Rain was a lot of fun at the competition, topped with skating and performing our programme so well, to win was unexpected and amazing."
 
Collette Norwood, who is also a Starlight Coach and Skated in both Storm and Rain teams said, "Last weekend was the most fun I've ever had at a competition. We were all so relaxed and just had a great time out on the ice. We were really happy with how we skated and the amazing reaction we got from the crowd at the end of our programme."
 
Starlight Synchro Club are competing at the Trophy D'Ecosse ISU international skating competition in Dumfries from Friday 8 to Sunday 10 February, where they will also be taking elementary, preliminary teams and one other adult team.
 
 Rhiannon Scott, Active Stirling Skating Coordinator and Starlight club coach said, “Synchronised skating is an amazing sport and we were delighted to hear it would be live streamed through the BBC, which just shows its growing popularity. Starlight is a wonderful and welcoming club with 6 teams accommodating all ages and all levels of ability. We are very proud of our team performances at the British Championships and look forward to our next competition.”
