Riversides Powerchair Football Team enjoy win at MDUK Scottish Championship 2018-19

Riverside FC Powerchair Football team prove they’re one to watch at the MDUK Scottish Championships 2018-19 held at The PEAK in Stirling on Sunday 7 October.
The team which was only formed in August 2018 by Riverside Football Club in partnership with Active Stirling was created with the aim of providing opportunities for participants with physical disabilities to take part in this ever growing sport.  Players use power wheelchairs in order to manoeuvre and kick oversized footballs.  Matches are played on a basketball court sized pitch and teams are made up of 4 players.
"It has been fantastic to see this programme grow from strength to strength in the last few months,” said Scott Kinross, SFA Football Development Officer with Active Stirling. “We now have 7 players in the Riverside squad and they are developing really well each week at the training sessions on Monday evenings at The PEAK.  They also made their debut recently at the MDUK Scottish Championship 2018/19 league and to see them progress to this level in the last few months is very rewarding.”
Ian Anderson, Riverside FC coach said "Riverside FC is delighted at how the Powerchair team has started.  The commitment of everyone involved in the team particularly the players has been great to witness and to start with a win was superb.   The club is committed to supporting everyone who wants to play football and the Powerchair team is a welcome addition to our pathway within our community club."
