What is Active Schools

Active Schools is a national initiative aimed at getting more children and young people - including those with a disability - more active, whether they're of pre-school, primary school or secondary school age.

The thinking behind it? The more people we can encourage into active lifestyles today, the healthier the adult population in the long-term.

Throughout Stirling, teams comprising Active Schools Co-ordinator (Primary & Secondary), Sports Development Officers, Sports-specific Development Officers and PE specialists are adopting an integrated cluster-based approach to increase the range and quality of opportunities available - not just within pre-school, primary and secondary schools, but the wider community too.

Supporting this work are a number of agencies and organisations - the council's Community Services and Children's Services: Early Years, Schools and Social Work, Stirling Sports Council, sportscotland and several partner agencies.
