Stirling Walking Network
The walking groups are taking a well earned break over the festive period and will restart on Monday 16th January 2012. So come and join us then and walk off those extra pounds!
The Stirling Walking Network project comprises mainly of volunteer lead walks in local communities to increase the health and wellbeing of those who attend the walks. There is now a pathway of walks to take you from a gentle stroll to a more strenuous walk, enabling you to increase and maintain your fitness levels.
Who are the walks for? Everyone
Free beginner walks (average 2km) are for those who are new to walking or wanting to increase their activity levels and those who may be recovering from an illness or operation. These walks are usually on flat, even surfaces and last
between 30 - 45 minutes.
Paid longer walks (WALK FORWARD) - These walks (average 6-8km long) are for those who are looking for a more strenuous walk. These walks are at a faster pace, can be on uneven surfaces and have some small hills/inclines.
Paid Community Walks – West Stirling Villages – These walks (average 2-4km) are for regular walkers wanting some gentle exercise on reasonably flat, good surfaced paths.
The Raploch Evening Walk stopped at the end of September 2011 and will restart April 2012. In the meantime walkers are welcome to the Saturday University Walk at 10.30am leaving from the front of the MacRobert Centre or another walk of their choice.
There are also longer community walks run through the Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme. Contact Tel No: 01786 475800. See link
