Andrew Bain

Role: Chief Executive

Responsibilities: The principal advisor to the Board and is responsible to the Board for the smooth running and co-ordination of the Company with overall responsibility for leading the business operation, performance and implementation of the strategy;  Chair of Sporta Scotland Regional Network.

Background: A leisure management graduate with over 20 years' experience across private, public and leisure trust sectors. Previously worked for Scottish Highland Hotels, Scottish Borders Council, Edinburgh Leisure and Glasgow City Council. Has previously been a member of the ILAM Scotland Executive and an active coach in the local community.

Interests: Most sports but especially golf and tennis, walking and generally keeping active.



Gordon McAllister

Role:  Interim Head of Finance

Responsibilities:  Responsible for all aspects of the Finance Team

Background:  Member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) since 1977
  • Partner in independent firm of Chartered Accountants from 1985 until 2006. Responsible for broadly based portfolio of clients including a number of charities in the contemporary arts sector such as RGI and RSW
  • Since 2007 worked on various assignments in charity sector, Scottish Government and local authorities.  Mainly Historic Scotland, Disclosure Scotland and SAMS
  • Non- executive Director, Trustee and Council member of SAMS for 6 years from 2007 to 2013. Chaired SAMS Finance Committee during that time
  • Financial Advisor to CDDV LLP a joint venture set up by Scottish Government and the Glasgow School of Art to digitally document 10 World Heritage sites (Scottish 10)

Interests:  Military and naval history, gardening, watching and playing sport, fine dining


Matt Bunnell

Role:  Head of Health and Wellbeing

Responsibilities: Responsible for driving the strategic and operational focus of Active Stirling’s Health & Wellbeing service.  Includes leading the health and fitness business across the company and creating specialist health and wellbeing opportunities for Stirling residents through effective partnership working and community development.

Background: A (BSc Hons) graduate in Sport and Exercise Science with Professional Tennis Coaching. Over 10 years’ experience within public and private sector facilities and health and fitness development. A trained tennis coach, personal trainer, group fitness instructor and exercise referral specialist.
Interests: Participating in numerous sport and physical activity including tennis, golf, gym and fitness classes. Enjoy reading literature of various descriptions and most of all spending time with the family
